Ekster is a US-based company that specialises in making mainly wallets and everyday carry essentials. They have a simple mission of making people’s daily lives easier. Simple yet not easy. One of the attractive points about the company was the fact that they focus on sustainability by using recycled leather such as vegan leather made from car windshields and ECCO DriTan leather (i.e., as shown in the above image). This can be a great choice for those who are more environmental friendly and have a preference to reuse and recycle material so as not to increase the amount of waste for mother Earth. Certainly helps us to be more conscious of our responsibilities to the environment by just having options of the products made using recycled materials.

Why did I choose this wallet over tons of options out there?

One of the main selling point of Eskter parliament wallet was the minimalist yet function design. It’s built to hold cards in and aluminium casing with RFID blocking functionality (i.e., reduced possibility of stolen credits from your cards via RFID technology). With a click of a button, the cards fan out neatly for your selection. A simple yet extremely useful mechanism. The fact that you are able to see all your cards position and pick the one you need out easily saves you time at the payment counters. No more fiddling through individual slot to find the card your need.

The presence of a strap around the aluminium casing allows you to store some notes and cash just in case you need them. There are still some places where card or digital payment are not accepted. Profits margin tend to be thin for these smaller or rural businesses where the implementation costs of digital payment is just not lucrative for them. Having some spare cash in your wallet never hurts.

Apart from the aluminium casing, there are other slots for storing cards that you might need quick access to. For example, your travel pass or card to take the train or buses to your destination. By placing them in the outer slots or back slot of the wallet, you can simply tap and go seamlessly when taking train or buses. After all, leather doesn’t block of RFID technology. Efficient and practical.

Consumers are given a choice to top up for a tracker card (usually place in the back slot of the wallet). For those who are prone to lose their wallet, that could be very helpful. By pairing the tracker card to your phone, you will be able to ring either one to locate your device or wallet.

Last, but not least, the size of the wallet is just perfect for me. Being small and able to fit in both my front and back pockets prove to be extremely useful (especially when shopping). Carrying bags of groceries, packed food and drinks are common activities for me. With a wallet small enough to fit in my pockets bring convenience when taking the public transports or making payment with my hands almost full. I don’t need to spend time looking for my wallet in my bag because it’s too big to fit in my pocket. Ease of retrieval was an important consideration.

Overall, I must say that I was really glad to have bought the parliament wallet a year ago and have been using it since. It’s still in great condition and had brought so much value and convenience to my everyday life.
